Urban List | 7 Of The Best Restaurants To Check Out Next Time You’re In Maroochydore

The hub of Maroochydore is teeming with restaurants and cafes and with so much on offer, it’s sometimes hard to know where to eat. So, we thought we’d help and share some of our favourite restaurants.

Whether you’re heading into town on a whim and feeling peckish, or looking for the perfect place for your next loved-up date night, here are seven of the best restaurants in Maroochydore to try.

Umami Ramen

Umami Ramen is a hidden gem. Located along the busy Aerodrome Road, sandwiched between a row of shopfronts, you could easily pass this eatery by, and that would be a real shame. Being the first dedicated Japanese ramen shop on the Sunshine Coast, it is as authentic as it comes and the regularly packed restaurant is testament to that. Specialising in rich and creamy Tonkotsu pork broth, their tender char-siu pork will melt in your mouth. We highly recommend their Spicy Red ramen, which is served with homemade miso paste and chilli oil–one slurp and it will hit the back of your throat, making your eyes water and taste buds salivate! If you’re vegetarian or vegan, don’t worry, you are catered for as well, with a ramen soup made with four varieties of mushrooms and kelp. Umami also makes a wicked chicken karaage rice bowl. Our chopsticks just can’t move fast enough.

The Boat Shed

This is an oldie but a goodie. Situated on the fringes of the Maroochy River, the view at The Boat Shed is unbeatable, which is why it’s one of our favourite spots to sit back and relax with an Aperol Spritz in hand. Enjoy their modern Australian menu over a lazy lunch or special occasion dinner–think: fresh oysters with pomelo and mint or pancetta pangrattato; and the kangaroo loin main with red wine braised cabbage, caramelised plums, chervil and juniper jus is insanely good. If you’re chasing a more casual vibe, then lay down a picnic rug in the park and pick up fish and chips from The Boat Shed’s hole-in-the-wall takeaway.

The brainchild of Jake Pregnell, Corbins has become a culinary leader here on the Sunshine Coast, serving Asian-fusion cuisine in the heart of Maroochydore. Munch on bar snacks, like salt and pepper tofu with spicy coriander relish served on a betel leaf; or satisfy your hunger with share plates of crazily crunchy sweet potato noodle balls coated in a rich and sticky black vinegar caramel; succulent braised beef intercostals with red nahm jim and coriander, and you shouldn’t go past the twice-cooked pork belly. Sundays have also never looked so good since Corbins introduced Beer Cha, which sees them team up with a different craft beer brewery to bring you nine courses of food paired with three beers for $50. And how can we forget about their weekly bento boxes, available in-house and as a take away, featuring scrumptious mini meal combos–think Shoga Yaki (ginger pork), kakiage and chicken bao; or katsu chicken curry and rice, nuoc cham slaw and chicken dumplings. No wonder this place slips into our list of the best restaurants in Maroochydore.

Kiki Bar & Eatery

Brought to you by the culinary couple behind Spice Bar in Mooloolaba, you know you’re in for a treat when visiting Kiki Bar & Eatery. From the moment you walk into this uber cool bar, you’re set to be wowed. The decor is sleek and sexy, a direct representation of their contemporary menu offerings, which include marinated olives, steak frites, and deli cheese and meats with condiments. But what Kiki does best is provide a bevvy of beverage options with classic cocktails including espresso martinis and cosmopolitans, eight different gin varieties, select wine and craft beers and our persona fave—kombucha on tap.

Serving a remix of Thai, Vietnamese, Malaysian and Chinese street-style cuisine, Junk is always a winner when heading out for a cheap meal in Maroochydore. Best enjoyed share-style, grab your mates and load up on their chicken katsu bao with crispy fried chicken breast, Junk’s special bulldog sauce and kimchi on a Chinese steamed bun; Gangnam spiced fries with nacho cheese sauce and don’t forget to grab a few bowls of crunchy lotus chips.

Orléans is luxurious and modern, drawing inspiration from traditional New Orléans cuisine and finished with a modern French Orléans twist. On the menu, you’ll find the classics of corn bread, clam and sweet corn chowder, sweet and spicy baby back ribs, sticky beef brisket and seafood gumbo, as well as twice-cooked pork belly tarte tatin, roast duck a l‘orangé, and gnocchi parisienne. They truly serve a memorable culinary experience and are one of the best restaurants in Maroochydore for a romantic night out.

Betty’s Burgers & Concrete Co.

Betty’s Burgers has long been a restaurant we’ve needed to make a trip to Noosa for, but since opening in Maroochydore, we can splurge on the good stuff more often. With a line-up of burgers sure to make you salivate, it’s their thickshakes and signature ice cream concretes that really hit the spot. Made with a secret recipe vanilla custard base, our picks are the peanut butter thick shake and the crowd-favourite concrete–lemon raspberry cheesecake with lemon curd, lemon zest, raspberries, New York cheesecake and ginger crumble. Yes, please.
