Where To Find 5 Of The Sunshine Coast’s Best Winter Roasts

Nothing heralds the start of winter like a hearty roast and we’re lucky here on the Sunshine Coast that some of our favourite restaurants and cafes host seriously epic spreads.

Some of these regular roasts have been running for years, and have quite a cult following—it’s like a gathering of your foodie family every week.

So if you’re looking for the perfect excuse to leave the comfortable confines of your living room this season, we’re here to help and keep you warm and toasty with the best winter roasts on the Sunshine Coast.

Little Boat

Marcoola

Sunday night is roast night at Little Boat, but forget your preconceived ideas about meat and three veg, because these guys put on crazy delicious spreads that will have you salivating. Each week, enjoy a local cheeseboard and your choice of local tap beer or house wine on arrival, and then the magic happens with a seasonally-changing menu. If last Sunday’s lineup of slow-roasted and pressed pork belly, crispy skin and corn puree; honey, chilli and lime roasted fennel, corn and freekah salsa; potato gratin, cranberry onion jam, chilli butter; jalapeno slaw and burnt caramel dressing, are anything to go by, you’ll want to book your seat at the next roast, pronto. Adults cost $40 and children fill up for $15. Bookings are essential.

Elliotts Bistro

Alexandra Headland

Starting the weekend vibes early is Elliotts Bistro, with their Thursday night roast. Choose between two courses for $35 or three courses for $45. Keep an eye on their Insta page for the menu release each week, but previous roast nights have included entrees of spiced pumpkin soup with warm buttered ciabatta; mains of beef sirloin with pommes fondant, broccolini and Elliott’s mushroom sauce; and apple rhubarb crumble, crème anglaise with vanilla bean ice cream for dessert.

Brouhaha Restaurant & Brewery

Maleny

Sunday roast is back at Brouhaha and is held on the second and fourth Sunday of every month. Because the team at Brouhaha are super serious about bringing big flavours that change seasonally, their roast offerings change based on what their producers have available that week. Slow-cooked Maleny Wagyu beef takes centre stage, accompanied by roasted hinterland veggies–think Hum Honey root veggies and wagyu roast potatoes–lashings of real gravy and what we’re all excited about...Yorkshire puddings. It wouldn’t be a roast without them. The traditional Sunday roast costs $29 per person, or you can upgrade to the two-course offering for $45, which includes the soup of the day for entree, and a beer. Bookings are essential.

Black Ant Gourmet

Kin Kin

Just like nothing spells a lazy Sunday like a roast, so too does a relaxing drive into the Noosa Hinterland. Every Sunday, Black Ant Gourmet puts on a BBQ buffet with a selection of succulent meats and self-serve salads. Previous spreads have included roast chicken, pork and beef, with crispy slaws and garden salads. It’ll set you back $25 per person or there is a vegetarian option for $18 per person and the kid’s buffet is $12.50.

Copperhead Restaurant & Brewery

Cooroy

In case you feel like indulging in one of the best roasts on the Sunshine Coast on a whim, Copperhead Brewery has roasted pork and vegetables, pan juices and apple sauce on their daily lunch specials menu. Their all-day menu also features some other hearty meals, such as stout braised lamb shoulder for two with malt molasses, rosemary potatoes, mushy peas and roasted carrots; and melt-in-your-mouth pork belly with confit potato, apple, radish, watercress and pomegranate molasses.
